It has been months. And after a new camera purchase and a well-made dish of stuffed acorn squash, I thought about how I have completely neglected to post anything. There is a strange heavy frantic feeling, as though you refrain from documenting your life, refrain from photo-taking, it's not like you aren't living/growing/doing... but it FEELS for a second like you've been stagnant.

(After three years, in the dead of winter, this guy decided to flower.)

So, here is to movement, to improvement, to goal-setting. Here is to the brilliant, hilarious and warm beings that surround, inspire, challenge and support me. Here is to my cat finally catching one of the mice that has inhabited our stove, on this otherwise uneventful Monday.

So we have this drawer in the kitchen that has been a home to plastic bags, probably years before any of us have lived here. I feel like the ratio of plastic bags brought home vs. taken out is about 1:1.

One afternoon, this tiny drawer refused to close. Knowing it was time, I decided to see what the count looked like:

I can honestly say, this is the happiest I have been in a good two years. Starting with a birthday collaboration, I have a new gladness and appreciation for the friendships that surround; inspirations in place of sadness; breaths into passions learned this winter; a new self-confidence I had forgotten.

Two and a half months unemployed in this winter has taken its heavy toll on my sanity in certain ways. The wind creaks against the poorly-insulated second and third floor windows, slipping up through the floorboards to double thick layers of socked feet. And this is for you complainers in the midwest.

after just spending an hour sifting and resizing through a few dozen photos, i am reaquainted with the fact that i miss actual printed photos.

It's funny how the methods of attempts to inform oneself of responsible tactics to save and plan for the future, sometimes come with a scary woman on the front cover.

our borrowed backyard: Saturday grill-outs have warmed me to the appreciation of corn on the cob and the fact that i can no longer label myself vegetable.

The two of them don't let me do anything without their keen supervision. And to those of you who aim to raise "shoulder cats".. beware of their brave attempts to leap (& half-miss) across the room with your back turned. MESSED UP.

uncertain of why i have not dabbled in linoleum since jr. high, the limitations i have found in my styrofoam-exacto-method are no more.. the smell of the material and the danger of deep lacerations to the hand brings me back.

Presently, and most important, i am not on Myspace. Withdrawing, slowly, i aim to post more creatings and do less creeping. Thinitrealslice needs work. I need work, but that is progress.

I logged on here to create a completely new blog, but there is another person out there with the blog name "sweaterfish." Luckily, she is a knitter of sorts. Maybe she, other than me, deserves the blog entitlement.

For those precious few who are not familiar with the world of Myspace, I congratulate thee. Part of me is quite done with Myspace-- being drowned out by the thousands of crappy bands trying to gain a following, mass amounts of drunken bar photos, and a lack-of feedback ... quality feedback.. on posting new work. This fact occurred long ago, but the appeal of re-joining some random blog-thing was quite unappealing. Though, I've recognized the value in comments on some of these sites, thanks to iF, and hope this new community is worth the attempt.

With that out of the way, here is a request from my sister far in the midwest, deep in the studies of a third-year-speech-pathology student. I love her much.
